CFD Strategies for Transonic Flows with OpenFOAM Using High Skewed Tetrahedral Meshes

The usage of OpenFOAM flow solver program can be challenging for some industrial applications as it is highly sensitive to the quality solution mesh. Therefore, users are inherently encouraged use low skewed meshes which have six or more faces. implementation hexahedral elements helps accurately model a physical problem and speed up convergence by allowing aligned orthogonally along curved geometry. However, tetrahedral mostly first choice in order easily mesh complex structures encountered problems, since they do not cause any distortions. cases, may necessity thus issue users. Although approaches varying due nature necessities generalized strategy has been put forward starting way compressible, turbulent, external then aimed reach correct results with required minor modifications throughout solution. This suggested applied basic CFD benchmark cases created successfully validated experimental data. As result, shown that sensitivity highly-skewed managed properly chosen strategies if compressible flows supposed solved numerically.
